Welcome Back to School!

Dear Parents and Guardians,

          We’re so excited to have you and your kids back for another awesome school year! As we kick things off, we want to share some key info about PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports) and how it helps create a great environment for all our students to learn and grow.

What’s PBIS?

         PBIS is all about being proactive and focusing on the good stuff. It’s a school-wide approach that encourages positive behavior and sets students up for success. To do this we will be teaching, showing, and celebrating good behavior all around the school. This will create a space where your kids feel safe, respected, and appreciated. 

 

"Knight Tickets" What are they?

         At Hugh Bish, we encourage all students to embody the following values: Safe, Responsible, Respectful, Friendly, and Kind. Throughout the week, we will actively look for students displaying these Knight-like behaviors. When we spot them, we reward them with Knight Tickets. Each Monday during our school-wide morning meeting, we will select five tickets and recognize those students for their exceptional behavior. As a reward, we will stamp their ticket ONE FREE ITEM, then those students can redeem their ticket at the student store.

 

How Can You Help with PBIS?

       Family plays a big part in making PBIS work! Here are a few ways you can support your student outside of the school and classroom:

  • Cheer them on and give them a high-five (or two) when they’re following the rules and doing great.
  • Chat with them about why being respectful, responsible, and kind matters.
  • Keep up with school expectations and events by checking out newsletters and updates.
  • Keep an open line of communication with the classroom teacher.

When we work together, we can create a positive vibe that helps every kid shine. Thank you for being such an important part of making this school year amazing for everyone!
