Understanding Strategies and Applications: Tier 1 Strategies: are foundation strategies for all students in the school.
- Visual Schedules: They schedules help remind students what they need to be doing and when as well help them transitions. Young students learn better with pictures, while older students do well with written schedules or even small personal schedules.



- Reward Systems: Simple reward system make it easy for teachers and staff to recognize students for their good behavior and choices. Whether a student demonstrates kindness, responsibility, or respect, awarding them helps engage student but also fosters a sense of accomplishment among students while supporting your school's PBIS initiatives.

When a teacher explains and uses these no verbal cues daily they will be helpful in other situations.
Non-Verbal Cues & Signals: Teachers and staff members can us hand signals/ASL, tap, touch, or a facial expressions for redirecting students.
These are calm and quiet whys to get a students attention without disrupting to rest of the class.


In a loud environment such as the cafeteria or assembly a teacher can ask student to turn off their talking voice, ask them to sit or stand all without having to talk.
